@klevy, we have seen and can reproduce the problem, but the fix is proving elusive. It only occurs if the recipient has read receipts enabled for iMessages.

2 bugs in QR:

1) when the recipient have a long name, the name is cutted in the left side.

2) when receive a message and rotate the iPhone in landscape, the text is too close to the bottom edge and some letters (like as “g” or “q”) is cutted.

Someone please help, every time I install the bite SMS it crashes & it crashes my winter board & when I go into safari it crashes when I go to click a link. I have the iPhone 3Gs 5.0.1 & I would love to have this APP. Please fix:(

Hi guys!
I noticed that when I’m writing a sms and I change the language of the keyboard (Emoji for example), this bug appears on the display:

“Bite SMS 6.0.18 on my iphone 3GS firmware 5.0.1 jailbreak by redsn0w_win_0.9.9b8. My Girlfriend has the same bug on a Iphone 4 firmware 5.0.1 jailbreak by redsn0w_win_0.9.9b8
I have a bug : In a conversation, when I receive a new message, I see my olds messages that i have already sent above the keyboard. So I have to tap on “messages” and return to the conversation to have the new messages above the keyboard.
When my girlfriend is writing (when I see this on my conversation ”…”) with imessage, it’s the same bug.

Edit by Martin, there were some bugs associated with iMessage and conversations. Only way to fix it is to “correct your database” by removing that conversation.”

@Martin : even after deleting the conversation, the bug is back.

One thing i’ve noticed is now when im on beta 18, I will get one or more messages at once, and my Iphone 4 ( ios 5.0.1 ) will run and reboot itself.. Not very good considering being untethered isn’t really an option. I’ve also noted that it seems to do this only when it’s not on silent mode.

No, it never did that in the native SMS application, and it never did that in any build of SMS (4.x or 5.x) prior to beta 17.

This bug appeared in beta 17 for me. And I use BiteSMS extensivly.

Btw, I am using the French (Canada) keyboard (QWERTY) as opposed to the French as I stated in my bug report.

Bug:

When I compose an SMS, and then I hit send, sometimes (seems no pattern for this behavior so far), the letter “g” is turned in “UPPER CASE” and then the message is submitted. I have character replacement turned on if that makes a difference and I am using the french keyboard.

Only the lower case “g” seems to be affected.

here is a sample of what happens:
1. I write an SMS “Jai mal aux genoux. Quel degat!”
2. I see the “g” is still in lower case
3. I hit send
4. The message that I send becomes “Jai mal aux Genoux. Quel deGat!”“

@Martin and team,
Thank you for this wonderful add-on capability to texting. BiteSMS is my primary reason to jailbreak, and I have influenced not just a dozen iPhone owners to buy this app.
Though I have my sighs…
It’s really annoying to hear a 10-15 second text tone while having a phone conversation. You may say change my text tone to a shorter one but hey, the old version of biteSMS for iOS4 allowed users to disable text message alerts during a call. So, can you make an option to unplay or put the text tone to default-”Tritone” during calls?
One thing more, I’m patiently waiting for the Hide Contacts feature. That is the next best thing to QC/QR. Would be glad to hear news from the team.

@martin: following up on my post on page 56, Received texts from Bank Of America at 692632 would crash bitesms, thus safe mode, once i changed bank of america’s name in contacts from the company name to first name it works perfectly.

@martin: what could it be then? The person has an iPhone and sent me a video taken with the iPhone and she used bitesms to send it to me. Why would the video not play in the bitesms app for me?

Can you please validate this?

Bug: I want my iPhone to display the notification icon in my lockscreen (the bubble on top with the number of new messages) whenever I have new messages.
I am having an issue where the behavior of the notification bubble seems inconsistent. Sometimes the bubble appears wit the new message, sometimes it doesnt.
What I figured out so far is that whenever BiteSMS is the main application running before I hit the power off button to lock my iPhone, the notification doesnt show.
If I exit to the main screen and BiteSMS is no longer the main app when I lock my iPhone, the bubble appears.

Is it possible to make the bubble appear every single time, wether or not biteSMS was the main app when I go to the lock screen?

In beta 18 you have two times the option to hide the messages app. one inside the code protection settings and one in the more stuff section.
I recommend to remove one.

@Martin: could the problem be that the person who sent me the video is still using the old version of bite that couldn’t play videos? She sent me several videos that I couldn’t play in the app. I asked another person who’s using the beta like me to send one and that played fine. I then sent one of my own videos to myself and that played fine.

I also tried saving one of the videos that the first person sent to me and sending it to myself – that wouldn’t play either. Is it possible that the “older” bite app encodes the videos in a way that the beta can’t decode or something?

In the earlier versions, when you would select the status bar icon, it would give you a quick list of messages. I used it on the lockscreen all the time. Is there going to be an update that adds this feature? If not, are there any suggestions on alternative ideas?

I have auto-show recents set for QC, however sometimes in lockscreen (and maybe unlock) QR it does not show the iMessage contact I’ve last messaged

Same bug as Klevy and others on 56. I’ve had it at least since 6.0.16. Only problem (albeit a moderately significant one for me) I’ve had with BiteSMS. Also, sometimes on QR popup, the options to ‘close’ ‘reply’ ‘call’, etc don’t show up.
