munchSMS v 1.1

Was surprised to see a new version of munchSMS on the app store today. The changelog just says bug fixes. Don’t know what these bugs were, but happy to see some updates to this great app. |

It was more updating of the keywords, so users can find us! |

I have a “jailbroken” iphone 2G with biteSMS, now I have a new iphone 3GS which I don’t intend to jailbreak (I also have a new SIM card). I would like to now if munchSMS is as good as biteSMS, although I just need the character counter feature and little more (I haven’t found much information or screenshots about it) Thanks, and just want to say that biteSMS it’s a great app, I hope munchSMS |

It’s very basic, and just allows you to send SMS messages only using the biteSMS network. No receiving, very few features. All restrictions of the App Store. We cannot transfer credits either, as Apple manage these for App Store applications. |
OK, has it the character counter? and the elimination of special characters like á é etc.? |
do the messages sent thru the app have my mobile phone number as ID? I’ve got to a point where the only app I use on my jailbroken phone is BiteSMS.. so I question myself about the need to jailbreak at all. I guess I’ll use up all my bitesms credits. Oh by the way.. does the munch app has multinumber support? thanks!! |

uhm i’m quite pissed.. I bought muchsms just to try and got a warning that I was running a cracked version or my iphone was jailbroken O_O if I run it from a fresh iphone4 will I get the 10 credits to test the app? |
If it’s JB’d then you will not. The reason is very simple, if you offer a service (so in this case 10 free credits) packaged in an App Store app, and it’s then cracked, then you have NO WAY of knowing if the user of the 10 credits is using a paid for version (App Store) or cracked version (from say bit torrent site). The ONLY way we can make a call on this, is by checking if the phone is JB’d, if it is then you don’t get the free credits. You might be pissed, but we are too….. a) Apple should provide enough information for an App Store purchase so that we can authenticate a user. |

Yep I understand your position.. why don’t you try to get information on the way Beejive checks if an app is cracked? I read they ban you from their server if they detect cracked apps, and If you happen to buy the app afterwards you need to send them proof. I bought munchsms in anticipation of my iphone4 (which should be delivered soon). Oh, you didn’t answer my last question :) If I install munchsms on a fresh iphone4 with no jailbreak, will I get the free 10 credits? I’m sure I’ll be happy with it and buy credits afterwards.. just want to make sure it fits in my “workflow”. anyways I still have tons of credits left on bitesms so I don’t think i’m giving up on it just yet!!! |
That just sounds like a lot of work for no gain to me. |
Of course, if you purchase munchSMS from the AppStore on a non JB’d phone, then you’ll get the 10 free credits. |
thanks :) it’s funny how Apple focuses all their efforts in trying to prevent jailbreaks and none at all updating fairplay for apps.. which apparently hasn’t changed since day 1 |
