Bug: I have the counter disabled in the quick list icon in settings. On the lockscreen the number does not show as expected however, on the home screen the number still shows in the icon.

I don’t actually believe that’s the right thing to do.

Martin, are you responding to UUZ3’s comment or my bug report?

@Martin, this might delay the release but pl correct this as this is everyday usage

this happens in both QR and QC, both thru lock and unlock screen option
enter a recepient, PASTE some text (happens with pasting only and not when u write something)
then press open (maybe to add a contact or anything else)

EITHER:
it tries to open the app, freezes for few seconds & then crashes, back to springboard

OR:
it manages to open the app, but pasted text is partly entered in the recepient feild & partly in the text feild
or sometimes shows 2/3 recepients written and part text in text feild.
on clicking on the recepient feild, more hidden pasted text is revealed

yes martin, the bug has been fixed, but a minor glitch remains
during the testing, the app opens fine with both recepient & text in their designated place
but then i canelled the msg in the app as i was only testing
in my nxt QC, it opens with the same recepient already filled in
(settings: Default Last “to” in QC is set to OFF)
but if i do send the text after openning the app
in my next QC, it opens with blank recepient

so i guess, a minor glitch remains

I’m using snappy atm, normally i’d have to press and hold the status bar for a couple of second to activate snappy. However, after installed the newest beta, everytime i press the quick list icon, it activates snappy at the same time. its weird.

Beta5 released on 14 April contains the following:

Changed the Quick List gesture to be just short press (to minimize clashing with other status bar apps).

For Quick Compose as well as remembering the entered text we now also remember the recipient(s).

In the About page, grouped Website and Forum together and upon selection, these pages are rendered inside biteSMS (instead of a new Safari window).

Moved the License information from the “Settings, About” page to a new “Settings, Credits / License Info” page. Also moved credit stuff into here as well.

A license is no longer required to use biteSMS, if you don’t have a license or credits you will be shown ads instead. The intent is that those who can’t afford / don’t want to pay can at least help in supporting the biteSMS team by accepting the ads.

In the “Settings, Credits / License Info” page, we have added a new option, “Show me Adverts”, so that those users with a license can have a play with seeing ads, just for fun (some people love ads you know!).

Fixed a bunch more bugs.

Note: The “Currently Used” SMS counter bug is still present, and is being worked on (it’s tricky to fix).

This is likely to be the final version (apart from Strings feedback and if we can fix the counter bugs).

Any update on fixing search?

Edit by ctny50: I can’t imagine it’d be hard to start the search 3 characters in? iReal does this very nicely and brings you to the exact message as well. BiteSMS users seem to be power SMS users (i.e. they send / receive alot) so I think this would affect many users.

Not sure what you mean, if you have an old phone and thousands of messages, it’s going to be slow. We have no plans to address that, simply because it’s a lot of work, and is actually coming in O/S 4 anyway. biteSMS will of course simply use the Apple search as well.

It might seem a little harsh, but for the majority of users, search is very usable and functional and stable. It’s the old 90 / 10 rule.

Just a heads up on the graphics – have you guys even thought about getting rid of that “separator”(the thin line) in the bottom of the QuickList? Looks a bit dodgy when it’s in the bottom and also when you have only one pending message.

I agree, but for some reason the API we are using puts it there, so we’d then be into the whole hooking in at a lower level, and at this stage it’s not worth the effort / risk. Sorry.

Hey Martin, have you given a thought to some kind of in-app purchase ? In order to curb piracy I suggest we do something like this : make only free versions of the app from v4.7 final with ads built in and have a link inside the app to upgrade it. No paid version should from now on be on Cydia. Yes ?

No paid version = no cracks :-)

That’s already the case Ram, you can only purchase from us, not Cydia.

Found an BUG !

When the iPhone is locked and a message come to my Phone, i erase it from the menü and following unlock the iPhone, the message open again in QR. As well the message don’t erased from Phone.

Sorry for my bad english :-(

This hasn’t been fixed.. I’m running beta5 already.. It’s still clashing with activator..

ragazzi io ho un problema praticamente quando vado in composizione rapida metto il nome del destinatario tutto ok… poi quando vado pewr scrivere il messaggio se ne va la tastiera ho provato a vedere tutte le impostazioni ma nulla… qualcuno sà come risolvere?
