Hello,

I have purchased bitesms and I have being testing iphone firmware 3.1 beta3. Up to the bitesms 4.3 beta3 all was working fine on the iphone firmware 3.1 beta3. Since the release of bitesms 4.3 beta 4 I can not open the bitesms main application. I am still able to use the quick compose and quick reply just fine. As soon as I click on the bitesms icon it tries to load and the exits. I have rebooted, reinstalled but nothing. It seems that it has something to do with the new features of the beta 4.

I know I am using a beta firmware but I thought is good to report it. Any ideas or suggestions?

How did you get BiteSMS installed on OS3.1? OS3.1 has not yet been jailbroken, or has it?

I thought that I should not mix with the other treads since this is a beta firmware. If the people from bitesms feel that this post is useless they can delete it.

Yes, the OS 3.1 beta 3 has been jailbroken.

I am guessing it’s nothing to do with beta4, can you please reboot, and see if that helps.

@ gipaq – I’m assuming you have a 3GS? I wonder if you try and install the BiteSMS 4.3 Beta 3 and see if it works, and then try upgrading to the Beta 4 and seeing if it hangs.

@ Martin – Is there a way to compile the beta 3 into a .deb so he can test it out?

Since it’s still a FW beta it could be a few things that could cause this, but if we test Beta 3 and Beta 4 of Bite on it, we can find out if it is a Bite or FW problem.

@gipaq: How did you JB 3.1? Any link?

I’d try installing 4.2 from BigBoss, does that still work (this then isolates any other event that may have occurred)?

As I said all versions prior to bitesms 4.3 beta4 have being working fine on OS 3.1 beta3 JB. I have the iphone 3G with OS 3.1 beta3 JB installed. I am assuming it has to do with the new features on bitesms 4.3 beta4.

@VPuccetti: As I said bitesms 4.3 beta 3 works fine on OS3.1 beta3 JB. I have also tried upgrading from beta3 to beta4 without success.

@Martin: Again, all prior versions to bitesms 4.3 beta4 worked fine including bitesms 4.2.

That is exactly what I thought as well.

Clearly this is either A) a hoax or B) the guy works or is associated with the Dev team for jailbreaking. If it’s B, he’s just trying to help BiteSMS out by forewarning that there will be an issue with the new update when it comes. Just my thoughts on the subject

but now a question, is everyone talking about 3.0.1 FW or the real 3.1 FW? Because loads of my friends keep calling the 3.0.1 update 3.1, which is wrong, 3.0.1 CAN be jb by the standard 3.0 JB. 3.1 isn’t released to the public yet.

First of all the firmware used is 3.1 beta3 JB and NOT 3.0.1. The firmware OS 3.1 beta3 has been JB for a while now and is NOT by Dev Team. This is not a hoax. I have no reason to do that.

@Martin: Since I have purchased bitesms I thought to let you know that the latest bitesms 4.3 beta4 does NOT work properly with the latest OS 3.1 beta3 JB. If I can help to find out what is causing the problem please let me know, I can make some tests for you.

Also, if the people from bitesms will allow me to post the link to the OS 3.1 beta3 JB I will, This is not my work but it was not JB by Dev team either. The OS 3.1 beta3 JB firmware works much nicer than the official 3.0.1 but it has expiration date as all other beta OS from Apple. Also, in order to use it you have to be a developer or have a Dev account.

Can you please do the following command, and see if biteSMS then starts-up?

cd /Applications/biteSMS.app
cp biteSMS biteSMS.launcher
cp biteSMSfw3 biteSMS

It’s fixed in the final 4.3 version of biteSMS.

I can happily confirm that the final version of bitesms 4.3 works fine on OS 3.1 beta3 JB. Thank you very much for the hard work. Now I know why I bought bitesms. Thank you again.
