They know it’s a wanted feature, and they will do what they can (if possible) to bring it back. They will leverage off the new “Opt in / out” feature. |
This was by far the most useful feature of BiteSMS. Once this feature was lost, I completely uninstalled it. But, it’s been too long; please bring it back already. And please don’t bring back a watered down version. Dedicate some development time to it and bring back the full feature. It’s clearly the most requested feature. |

Lost hope. It’s never coming back. |

Dude.. have you read any posts from Martin in this thread? |
I’ve read all posts about HC, but the point is that if devs really wanted to put it back they could have done it by now. iOS5 is out since 10 month now (beta) and the first beta of biteSMS 6 was released on Sep. 19th so allmost 8 month ago and still nothing. |
I sure hope to see this feature ported to iOS 5. In the mean time I’m holding off on updating my iOS 4.2.1. |

It’s pathetic to see a feature that is so highly demanded be thrown to the wayside in favor of some gimmicky “opt in / out” feature as mentioned here and elsewhere. Clearly the issue here isn’t the DEMAND of the users, the demand is clearly there. The problem is 1) Dev’s don’t want to put in the work OR 2) Dev’s can’t figure out how to make it happen, and thus this whole “opt in / out” feature is their work around and only hope at appeasing all of us who have paid for the app based on the “hide” feature. People don’t want a passlock, they don’t want some bumbling method or “work-around” as it’s referred to. They want something discrete that NO ONE knows is there. Needless to say I will be evaluating the other applications mentioned in this thread (thank you to those who have suggested them), and will posting elsewhere about my success with them, and LACK of care of the dev’s of Bite SMS. It had so much potential, and still has so many awesome feature, but as most in this thread have said, this is really the deal breaker. If you had come out and said “It’s not possible based on the architecture of iOS 5”, we would understand, but simply continually saying “I don’t think it’s worth it”, “It’s too much work” is a slap in the face for everyone who has supported you through the growing phase of this app, contributed feedback, and recommended to friends and family. -Johnny |

Johnny I would love to know if you find another app that performs the same way on 5.0 |

You have really no clue what the dev’s are moving to get biteSMS work on iOS. |
As stated by johnny1234, let the developers humbly write it here that Hide Contact is not possible to integrate in ios5 due to its architecture. |
Hoping the Bitesms team can find their way to implement HC soon… Im patiently waiting for that news of Hide Contact integrated at last!.. |

I can appreciate the difficulty/possible impossibility of doing ‘hide contacts’ with the regular iMessages parts of iOS – but, we already have iBlacklist and apps that can intercept inbound SMS and have them deleted/displayed/etc. Why can’t hidden conversations be put in a db that belongs only to biteSMS and display these? I know this wouldn’t be as neat as the way it is on iOS 4.x but it would be a start. Are the controls that display messages from the iMessage database native? if not, then they can read from the db and format own displays, why not make the display hide the conversation, or do some combination of the regular message db with the db of intercepted messages? |
I never thought that I would ever ask that question but here it is…: Does iRealSMS support such hidding conversation feature. Perhaps it’s time unearth my iRealSMS license? |
Please add hide SMS back |
Well, I broke down and bought iRealSMS… it does support hiding of conversations… The implementation sucks, and it’s a pain to use comparatively, and instead of hiding the SMS app, I have to hide iReal, as once you’re in you can easily see the hidden convos, which defeats the purpose, but at least it hides it from the imessage app, and that achieves my purpose. I would truly LOVE biteSMS to re-introduce hidden convo’s, as the interface is substancially slicker than iReal’s… But until that day, I must stay with iReal, as this is a feature I need to have, however clunky/cludgy it is. @Martin, please consider re-introducing this feature, even if it’s just within the bitesms app. |
Just wondering… Is there anykind of work/research that is being made toward the hiding feature? I mean if there’s none the current thread is useless no matter how many views and replies it contains. |
I beg you to return this feature, even if the program becomes more expensive than 3-fold. |
Come on… Lets make it happen together! Money buys anything regarding technical programming issues like this!!!! Bring it back Martin. I am starting to think that maybe you arent bringing it back because you feel bad for all the men/women being cheated on with this feature? LOL…you only have one life bud! My life choices and anyone elses are theirs to do what they wish. Hah! I simply use it because my kiddo is always tinkering on the phone and he should not read/see pictures of what me and his mommy txt each other! I keep deleting it all right now, but she gets to keep it simply because she has android? No fair! It was good while I used 4.2.1 :) |
That’s funny..) but pretty sure not the reason why Martin’s team aren’t bringing in back..iOS6 you never know. |
Can iRealSMS coexist with BiteSMS? That could be a workaround for that missing feature in BiteSMS… |
Any updates to this? Are you working on it or is it still at the bottom of the list? I really miss this feature! |
We are not currently working on it. We are flat out getting biteSMS ported for iOS 6. |
Some updates on the return of hidecontact ? |
This is a must have feature for bitesms I miss it so badly :( please bring this feature back! |
