First off, let me say what a fantastic app this is!!
Right, many people are experiencing my problem and its not just me. I am not 100% sure that bitesms is causing it but i’m 95% sure!
The problem is:
Randomly sometimes there is a dead spot on the springboard homescreen (it usually covers the lower/middle apps). It becomes unresponsive and doesn’t do anything when pressed in that area. In apps the are is fine. To solve the issue I either have to respring or press the volume up/down and wait then for it to dissapear. Due to the volume up/down having to be pressed and the bitesms being the app that everyone experiencing this has in common, I believe it is bitesms that is causing this problem.
I’ve searched the forums for a solution but haven’t come across anything.
Are you aware of the issue? Are there any others experiencing this out there??

I get this as well. And it has been reported before. But it only happens like ones every 3 week or something. Not sure what the reason is. Someone mentioned it happened to him if he locked the phone before the volume hud disappeared.

Dead spots on the touchscreen can occur if there’s no path between your phone and the ground.

It’s grounded when you’re charging it, and when you’re touching the metal exterior of the phone.

So when I’m jumping off a plane and flying towards the ground on a parachute it won’t work ? :-(

No need to take it to those extremes. Most cases prevent your phone from being properly grounded.

Most of the time, the dead spots only affect multitouch, though.

Yeah this is definitely bitesms realted. I am the one who can trigger it by locking before the volume hud goes away, uninstall bite goes away, reinstall happens again. I’ve had this bug off and on since I bought bite many months ago. Not a huge issue especially considoring how much I love this app but its definitely bite related may be a confliction with somethings else but nothing to do with your phone being grounded lol

I also have this issue, didn’t know bite was causing it. Very annoying when it happens though.

Now that you’ve mention it.. I do get it sometimes in th lockscreen.. I noticed this when we started QC..

I have password protection on my phone and sometimes when I set my phone to silent, I can’t unlock my phone cos the num 2 can’t be pressed…

I have this issue a lot as well, as do a few friends of mine that use this app… one has a broken power button, so he could not reset his phone when the passcode could not be typed in. It was very inconvenient.

aLwYn, I will download it and upload it to my webserver, perhaps that would be faster. But, it is even taking a while for me.

Ive had the issue with the number 2 on the passcode screen not working as well. Ive had BiteSMS since 09-2009 and it has only happened once and that was about three weeks ago. I believe I was running 4.5 then.

My wife had this issue last night on her phone (Bite 4.6 installed). the dead spot seems to be where the hud would normally be (third row down on the springboard). Annoying part was right where the “repsring” button is on SBSettings. I had to use the power button and reboot the phone. Worked fine after that.

So wen can conclude this is a bug that needs to be dealt with :)

I got this a bunch of times in the past. I think I was able to solve it by starting up a Quick Compose (and maybe opening up BiteSMS from there, I can’t quite remember). I haven’t seen it in a few weeks, though.

No problems, would love to, just need someone to reproduce it for me, as I have never seen it!

I’ve been getting this too for quite a long time now. The space on and around the third row on the springboard gets stuck and becomes completely irresponsive. Haven’t been able to manually reproduce it but it happens after you use your phone for quite sometime without respringing / rebooting.

Reproduceing the untoucable area bug

1) At Springboard press volume up button so “Tap for QC” hud appears
2) Lock your phone before it goes away
3) Try to touch hud area. (but you can’t)

A solution could be offloading the trigger to lib activator.

I can’t get this bug to appear following the steps above, anyone else?
