I can’t help any farther than pointing you to the bite supper email in the settings |

If you are using any character not in the GSM character set (http://www.csoft.co.uk/sms/character_sets/gsm.htm ), then you only get 70 characters per SMS (as the character set switches to Unicode), sometimes you’ll get even less, because as you write longer texts, the SMS messages are concatenated together, and this requires another 6 bytes. Anyway it’s quite complex, but it’s not us, it’s the standard SMS protocol. |

i dont think ist because of me using special characters. I dont mean the SMS Counter which shows the amount of characters i am using in a single SMS. I mean the SMS Counter in the settingsmenu, which shows how many SMS i’ve send in a specified period. This counter counts too many SMS. |

Have you reset the counter? I’d assume so. If it’s automatic make sure you set the right date and time, so it’s in line with your carrier, because if it’s even slightly off, say by 30 minutes (I know my carrier updates their counter on the time I signed the contract, it’s weird cause I’d imagine it should update at midnight of that day) and you were texting during this time, it would be wrong. If it is the delivery report, try taking it off for a period of time and monitor any changes. Other than that, I’m out of ideas. Try some of this out and report your findings :) |

thx ray661 for your ideas. I was able to figure the problem out. It has definitely to do something with iphone-delivery-report. Turned off the counter works like charm. |

Have you got biteSMS set up to count incoming SMSs? Depending on your settings, iphone-delivery-report can convert a delivery report into an incoming SMS (so it shows up in your conversation), and biteSMS has no way of knowing that it’s not a normal incoming SMS, hence it gets counted. |
